About Us
The Cheesesteak Factory is located 90 minutes drive from Sydney in Lawson in the beautiful Blue Mountains. We are a family owned business and have been residents of the Blue Mountains for many years. We prepare unique variations of the classic Philadelphia Cheesesteak sandwich using fresh locally sourced ingredients.
Cheesesteaks have been a part of American cuisine since the mid-1930’s and are relatively new to Australia making our store and our products quite unique.
Folklore has it that the first ever cheesesteak sandwich originated in Philadelphia when a hot dog vendor decided to place beef on the grill instead of his usual hot dogs. A passing taxi driver caught a whiff of the delicious aroma and purchased the first ever cheesesteak sandwich. The taxi driver was so impressed with the taste, that he radioed a number of local drivers to try the amazing cheesesteak. The following day the hot dog vendor was overwhelmed with demand for his now infamous cheesesteak sandwiches and the legend was born.
We bring the legend to life by making a number of different variations to the classic Philly Cheesesteak.
What is a CheeseSteak?
Traditionally, a classic Philly Cheesesteak comes on a long bread roll topped with sautéed onions, thinly cut beef cooked on a flat top grill and smothered in cheddar cheese sauce.
Here at The Cheesesteak Factory, we prepare our Cheesesteaks using scotch fillet steak that we buy whole. We trim the beef and slice it thinly so it’s ready to be cooked upon request.
